What Google Cardboard is all depends on who you ask. Some people see it as Google’s way of winding up big headset makes like Oculus rift and the Samsung Gear VR because they both use phone screens within their headsets. But there are other people who see it as Googles way of bringing affordable virtual reality to the masses. As smartphones get even faster and even smarter these phone mountable headsets will become more and more impressive and that can only be a good thing for those of us who can’t afford the real thing.

For many of us Google Cardboard is the closest thing we will come to a virtual reality headset for quite a while until the technology and prices of full VR headsets catches up with us. This headset requires you to own a suitable smartphone. Without this item the headset simply will not work.
