VR Shinecon 3: Buzz Lightyear

About: VR Shinecon 3: Buzz Lightyear is one of a set of 3 special addition VR Shinecon 3 headsets. You can choose between the VR Shinecon 3: Pro, the VR Shinecon 3: Buzz Lightyear and this one which is the VR Shinecon 3: Buzz Lightyear. The question is, is this headset as much fun as the Toy Story films were?

While the features and face padding design are the same it is the front face plate that changes between them. This one (Buzz Lightyear) has a large logo disc on the front which apparently looks like Buzz Lightyear’s helmet. But I couldn’t see the resemblance.

The weight distribution of this headset does seem to be pretty centred, with a lightweight design, but pretty strong build. While it doesn’t stand out as unique it does have all the right things you need to get going from the bag.

Our Thoughts: The features are the same across all 3 of these special addition headsets. So adjustable lens distance (not independently) adjustable 3-point elasticated head strap, air flow face padding and large clear lenses. That is about all you get, but it is just about all you need as well for a pretty good mobile VR experience. While it won’t run all Google Cardboard apps with a Bluetooth controller it will.

While nothing amazing or unique, this is still a pretty good headset for the price. It looks nice and while it doesn’t have the widest FOV it does have a very clear view. This is a headset best suited for first time mobile VR users looking for something a little better than a Google Cardboard device. This is not a gift-friendly headset, but it is one I would suggest people buy themselves. Get one of these, slot in a smartphone, get a Bluetooth controller and away you go!
