Intro: Ascension is a fast-paced deck building game that’s quick to learn and packed with endless hours of replay value. Play online or single player in this VR adaptation of the award winning favourite that will appeal to fans of board games, trading card games and non-gamers alike.

Review: To put the idea of this game in a nutshell you have to break through mortal limits and ascend to something far greater. How do you do that? Yes, you guessed it, by turning over cards and using the point systems to battle other players. With 52 cards to choose from including heroes, constructs & monsters, it also has chat animation sync which is really creepy at first, but you soon get used to it.

This is a game that takes a long time to learn and even longer to master, but once you get into it, you will be hooked. Getting some friends to battle in VR each with his or her VR headset on is a great experience and perfect for a group of friends who can’t always find the time to meet up in the real world. But of course in the real world, the monster cards don’t literary fight each other and each card won’t change the environment you are seeing.

Verdict: Ascension has been a favourite card game for years and already has loads of fans, so this VR version is sure to be right up their street. Sadly for now there is a lack of other people playing it online and this does dip into the replay value for it. But once more people own VR headset and I would imagine some card expansion packs get released it will be a great game. Is it worth downloading now? For non-fans of the game, I would say no, but if you already love the Ascension universe you will find loads to love about it already.
