Bigscreen also has Multiplayer features that let you hangout in a virtual room with up to 4 friends. You can see what’s their computer screens and chat with them. Watch movies together, have a VR LAN party, or just hangout. Choose from a dozen virtual environments such as Mars, the Moon, and a luxury apartment.
Review: Bigscreen Beta has been around the Steam VR store for a while now, but finally, it has made it to the Oculus Rift store. This is a virtual reality screen and network environment that probably has endless amounts of uses. From LAN parties to work sharing, to shared social events to having virtual mates around to watch the big game, this app is only limited by your own imagination.
For me, it’s best use is having a big screen to work on, play games on, or to watch films on. Then being able to share all that with VR friends is an odd experience. Trying to explain what exactly this app does is like trying to describe how an alien spacecraft works. In these early days people are suing it for various things, but as time goes on other people are using it to do even more amazing things. It started off as a VR LAN party app, but these days…WOW! It’s like the crazy world of VR we were told about in all those odd sci-fi films. The biggest problem I found with this app is that my VR apartment was much better than my real one so whenever I took it off, I found myself wanting to put it on straight afterwards. Oddly I am even typing this review inside of the app!
Verdict: What is most surprising about this app is the amazing things people use it for. From fixing mates PC’s to networking on new games or getting in game help, it’s like the future of networking. What scares me most about this app is that it makes it easier not to take your headset off, you could literally work all day inside of it, losing touch with reality. But you shouldn’t see that as a bad thing, this is the things we always dreamed of doing in VR and now that they are here we shouldn’t be scared of them. Download it, embrace it and discover why so many of us VR fans have been banging on about how VR will take over all our lives.
