Review: Domain Defense VR is a tower defence game that sees you trying to spot wave after wave of monsters from doing something (there isn’t really any storyline so what they are trying to do is anyone’s guess). Using the Oculus Touch controllers you pick up and place the various towers around the playing area (only in the blue spaces). You can get power them up, sell them or swap them for something else.
While the animation of the towers and characters is nothing amazing, they do at least look OK. You can clearly see the different sorts of monsters as well as what sort of tower you are placing down. Sadly you will have to work out for yourself what everything does, but I found myself soon getting the hang of it.
Verdict: To be honest, all table top strategy games look awesome in VR and this one is no different. It’s like a tiny playset laid out in front of you and they do your bidding. The graphics look solid enough and the gameplay (once you have worked out how to play the game) is pretty easy. Sadly the lack of a tutorial will put a lot of people off getting the game, but I feel there is still some potential for this title. If you are still hungering for some VR strategy gaming after getting many of the other VR strategy games on the market, do consider giving this one a chance.
