GEPRO VR Glasses (Mobile VR Headset)

“…good enough to give you a great mobile VR experience.”

Box Weight: 616 g
Box Height: 15 cm
Box Width: 12 cm
Box Length: 22 cm

Overall Packaging Presentation: While the outer sleeve and plain white box are not exactly eye-grabbing they at least make it more presentable than a headset that just comes in a bag (like so many others we have reviewed). Opening the box for the first time there is only the headset in a bag, so no other signs of protective packaging. But it did arrive in one piece and seems safe enough.

Whats in the box…

  • Headset
  • Microfiber Cloth
  • Cleaning Wipes

First Impressions: While I do think the GEPRO is a little heavier than the Bobo Z4 (don’t quote me on that) I do think the weight of the headset is spread over the entire thing rather than mostly front heavy like the Bobo Z4 is. But sadly I think the GEPRO lacks the quality that the Bobo Z4 has. It just doesn’t seem as polished or as well designed. But overall very usable and strong. Cheap it might be, but it is also very user-friendly.

Features Review: In this area the GEPRO does pretty well. It has adjustable pupil and focus distance (neither of which is independent sadly) built-in earphones with play / volume buttons, a 3 point adjustable headset (elasticated), and pretty good lenses as well. While the lack of a screen touch button is a shame, the rest is very much present. Its list of features are certainly good enough to give you a great mobile VR experience.

Final Verdict: This is a tough headset to call, as it does give a slightly better viewing experience than the Bobo Z4 will give you, but the GEPRO is cheaper made, cheaper to look at and just doesn’t feel like a truly finished product. It’s like a Bobo Z4 taken out of the womb too early. The head strap and folding earphones are also rather fiddly, but overall (once I had worked out how to put it onto my head without it folding me ears over) I enjoyed what I was seeing. Not perfect, but there is definitely seeds of quality here, they just need more time to grow.Maybe the GEPRO 2 will be the headset I think this one could have been.
