Description: Welcome to in.block, a creative 3D drawing app that’s designed for easy pick up and play. With Touch controller support, start creating in a way that feels less like advanced 3D Modeling and more like playing with building blocks. Use familiar tools to pencil in, erase away and paint on your own block world. Let the natural depth of VR help you create ‘pixel perfect’ voxel art, massive cube sculptures or anything in between.

Review: I’m pretty sure the last thing the Oculus store needs is yet another paint app done with motion controls, but that is exactly what in.block is. But while all the new painting art programs are tripping over themselves to add more and more features, in.block keeps it deadly simple and tries to put a bit of fun back into VR painting. Done in a Minecraft block style you can create massive pixel block art in a quick and easy way. Sure it gives you more detailed features that that, but the core of the app is to keep things as simple as possible.

You can pinch, zoom, add, remove and colour all the blocks you could possibly want. What I found odd is just how much more creative you can be when you are not distracted by tons of features, it was like the simple design of the tool accompanied the simple thinking of my art skills. Pretty soon hours had passed and yet I was still having fun. This app is for people who want to try something fun and creative, but without anything complicated to work out. Add, paint or remove, this app is as simple as that.

While I am in no doubt that people with more artistic skills than myself will be yearning for more features, for me this was perfect. I worked out how to use it within moments even with the lack of a tutorial and I felt like I could stay in the app for hours making something, anything that I wanted. It’s never going to blow anyone away with how amazing its features are and pretty much anything you will create inside of this app won’t win any design or art awards, but at least you will have fun doing it and I think that is exactly what this app is all about.
