Description: Lucky’s Tale is a delightful platforming adventure game designed exclusively for the Oculus Rift. Join Lucky as he runs, jumps, climbs and spins his way through a bright, colorful world filled with thrilling challenges, wacky creatures, and all the shiny things a little fox could ever want!

Built from the ground up for virtual reality, Lucky’s Tale offers a unique twist on the 3rd person perspective platformer. Its innovative approach to the camera, character motion, environment and gameplay all work together to provide a highly comfortable experience while allowing players to freely roam diverse, immersive environments. Whether you’re racing with Lucky through lush trees, dodging swamp pits, battling menacing bosses, or mastering mini-games, youʼll feel like you’ve truly gone inside the world of a video game thanks to the magic of VR.

Review: Looking for the future of platform games? Well, Lucky’s Tale has got a lot to offer. You play the role of Lucky the Fox who can run, jump, spin and attack very much like Super Mario can. His best friend (a piggy bank) has been pignapped by the evil Glorp (a scary octopus creature). So you have to rescue him by any means necessary. This of course, means going through various levels battling little monsters while collecting coins and gems.

Taking the Red Coin and Time Trial challenges into account you have 38 levels to work your way through (but there are only 12 worlds in total). Ranging from desert to underwater sections, each level looks more and more amazing and colourful. It’s not so much the scenery that makes Lucky’s Tale look so good, it’s the little bits of animation in the creatures faces, the flowers and the plant life that make this game so immersive.

Every system needs its mascot and Lucky is Oculus Rifts. Despite being a pretty blatant rip-off of other systems mascots and platformer games this is one of those games that could easily convince people to buy a VR system. He’s fun, cute and in VR the levels look colourful, deep and immersive. Sure, the game is not the biggest and some of the levels are a little samey. But through all of them, you will believe that you have been placed within a cartoon world and told to look after Lucky. Lucky’s Tale was a perfect launch title and Playful should be very proud of what they come up with.
