Description: “Mental Torment Episode One” is a horror experience for Oculus Rift created on Epic’s Unreal Engine 4. In our game, you will not die. The only thing which you will have to beat are your fears. Pass the claustrophobic labyrinth if you dare. There is only one way to the exit, but the path that leads to it is not easy. Are you brave enough to do it? Then prove it.

The game is specially designed to reach photo realistic graphics quality. High-quality binaural sounds add additional flavour and combining all that with heart pounding jump scares and chest clenching horrors makes for a truly terrifying experience.

Review: To understand what Mental Torment: Episode One is like you need to have at least tried one VR horror game with headphones on. No longer do you have that glass of the screen to protect you, you are in the scene, you are the one the killer / monster is looking for. Most (if not all) VR horror games raise the bar on horror storytelling. As you start wandering through the high-quality photo-realistic graphics you start to hear the first touches of the binaural sounds filling your ears and making you look around.

Walking down the spiral staircase at the start you quickly become aware that something nasty is going in here, but it’s all just a game and your sick curiosity keeps you going deeper, further and onwards into the games maze of creepy tunnels, hanging chains and blood filled pools. There is an exit down there somewhere, if you are brave enough to walk the path.

When it comes to VR horror games we have seen and played a lot of them here in the VR shop office. But this is one of the scariest horror experiences we have ever played, it truly plays on your eyes, ears and mind, sometimes all at the same time. While short it offers good value for money for anyone who thinks they are brave enough to handle a VR horror game. I just hope Episode two takes far too long to make and in the end, they forget to make it because I really don’t think my heart could handle any more of this level of horror.
