WeAreVR: Foamposite VR (Mobile VR Headset)

“…a cheaper version of the Merge VR that everyone should buy…”

Please note: Box weight, size and contents might not represent your own product as sometimes different sellers use their own packaging and often include extra items like controllers, wipes, cloths or other promotional materials.

Box Weight: 1091 g
Box Height: 22 cm
Box Width: 12 cm
Box Length: 21 cm

Overall Packaging Presentation: It’s a pretty nice looking box. With its black outer sleeve and hard blue box inside its shop friendly and has most the information you need whether or not to buy it. Removing the outer sleeve and opening the box you are presented with yet another case inside of the box, which doubles up as a protective carry case! Opening this does reveal the headset inside of it. This is very safe packaging and should arrive with most people undamaged. Given that the headset is made from foam anyway, I suppose it doesn’t really matter anyway!

Whats in the box…

  • Headset
  • Microfiber Cloth
  • Instruction Booklet
  • Bluetooth Controller

Foamposite One VR (WeAreVR)

First Impressions: Getting it out of the box, I can’t help but compare it in both looks and feel to the Marge VR, only Cheaper. It’s the same rubbery foam, the same look and from what I can tell most the same features. With it’s big, soft feel design you know your phone is safe inside of it while in use and weight wise it is front heavy, but dare I say lighter than the Merge VR. On first impressions only I like it, in both looks and feel.

Features Review: When we come to this headsets features list, the dream of a cheaper version of the Merge VR that everyone should buy suddenly fades away. You do have independently adjustable pupil distances, but the focus adjustment isn’t independent. Nor do you get screen touch buttons and even the lenses are nowhere near as good. The head strap is OK I suppose, so that is something.

Final Verdict: The Foamposite VR is little more than a cheap clone of the Merge VR. But it doesn’t have half the features and nowhere near the quality of view experience that the Merge has. But yet it does keep some of the good points of the Merge. It’s comfortable to wear, the head strap is good quality and the experience (while nowhere near the FOV of the Merge VR) is pretty immersive thanks to the deep blinkers at the side making it nice and dark.

Sadly for the Foamposite VR is doesn’t have the cheap price that might have saved it. It costs about the same as the real Merge VR and that means it doesn’t offer good value at all. But if you got this headset as a gift, you might well find it quite enjoyable.
