Overall Packaging Presentation: Coming from Homido I expected nothing short of excellent presentation with the Homido Grab and that is what it was. It looks great, could just as easily be placed in a shop and the box has all the information you need to make a purchasing decision. While inside the box there isn’t much more protection, it should still get to most people in one piece.

Whats in the box…

  • Headset
  • Microfiber Cloth
  • Instruction Booklet

First Impressions: While it might be pretty obvious to most people. the first thing you will notice about this headset is the grip/grab style of it. This is a quick viewer, for short bursts of VR at events of maybe a presentation. This headset might have a similar design to other Homido headsets, but in terms of usability and purpose it stands out on it’s own, taking the Homido brand name places it has never been before. It’s tough, rugged, but yet also lightweight and easy to use.

Features Review: Homido is riding on the back of success after the awesome Homido V2 and has produced the Homido Grab. With a full compatibility sticker from Google. The Grab is a “simple and efficient” smartphone powered VR viewer which doesn’t have IPD or focal length settings but does have superior lenses to compensate It has the same locking system as the Homido V2 with the grip and spring system. Smartphone compatibility ranges from 4.7 “to 5.7” and of course, it has the screen touch button. This is basically a much more child-friendly headset than their previous efforts with a soft, easy grip body and range of colours Yellow, pink, Blue, Red & Black . But add to those it also comes in a special edition Pokemon Go collection! Choose from team Instinct, Mystic, Valor or…just collect them all!

Final Verdict: The problem with the Homido Grab is that it is good for the type of purpose it was made for. You see, it fills a headset gap perfectly. When it comes to events, demos, VR showcases or a VRpresentation you can’t use the Google Cardboard because it looked too cheap, the Viewmaster VR was too childlike, so along comes the Homido Grab and parks itself somewhere in the middle of both of them. For that quick use, multi-user purpose it is perfect,

Sadly it is not comfortable, doesn’t come with a head strap and doesn’t have any features really beside the screen touch button! But holding it to your face for a few hours is not the purpose of this headset. Passing it to someone to demo your app, or anything mobile VR it is perfect, easy to grab, perfectly clear lenses and an easy to find screen touch button to navigate around. Like I said, used for that it was made to do, this headset is one of the best, but just don’t be confused about what it is designed to do.
