Overall Packaging Presentation: Sadly our box did arrive a little squished, which if it has been something a little more expensive or fragile would have been a problem. The good news is the headset inside is strong and sturdy meaning it might have come inside a flattened box but the headset inside is fine with no sign of wear. At the end of the day it comes all the way from China to the UK, so a little bit of box squashing is to be expected.
The box itself is a little boring, to be honest, a brown cardboard style with a few pictures and text. I did happen to love the instructions that consisted of this: “Assemble the virtual reality headset, start the app, insert the smartphone and enter the world of VR.” Nice and simple and you are left in little doubt what is inside of it.
Whats in the box…
- User Manual
- 2 Point Headstrap
- Microfiber Cloth
- Lens Plate
- Nose Ridge
- Leather VR Headset Outer Case
DIY VR 1.0 VR Headset
First Impressions: From the moment, it is out of the box you are left in little doubt what to do with the pieces inside (having said that I’ve put together hundreds of Google Cardboard style headsets before, but even a noobie should be able to work out how to put it together. The poppers and stitching of the leather seem to look good and the whole thing fits together perfectly from the first time to time and time again thanks to the easy fasten poppers.

Final Verdict: Having assembled and inspected what must be hundreds of Google Cardboard mobile VR headsets in the past I can promise you, you can do far, far worse than buy this PU Leather headset. It feels and looks sturdy and strong, plus is has some good quality lenses. It’s not a unique flower in the field of many, but it would be a good pick.
