Overall Packaging Presentation: It’s the perfect collectors item box. With nice images of Batman all over it as well as the headset itself being shown through the plastic window with the Batman logo on it. Opening the box you realise that the display window is in fact, part of the box, meaning the headset inside of it is well protected with a thick cushion of plastic.

Whats in the box…

  • Headset
  • Batman AR Disc
  • Instruction Booklet
  • Smaller Phone Adaptor

View-Master Batman: The Animated Series

First Impressions: While I certainly wouldn’t call myself a big fan of Batman the animated series, but I am a fan of this headset. It looks fantastic and any fan of the Batman series will happily give it a loving home in their collection. It is simply the same VR View-Master as the original V1, only with a Batman style. So the same heavy build, but built to take a few knocks and bumps. This a headset designed to be used by little ones and its design should allow it you take more than a few drops. But overall, great quality and a super strong design.

Features Review: Sadly this is where the original View-Master VR fails and being the same headset underneath it is also where the View-Master Batman: The Animated Series edition fails. No pupil distance, no focus adjustment, only a screen touch button and tiny lenses. In my opinion, it is not good enough for kids, or to be used as a VR viewer in classes or educational purposes. The Homido Grab has shown us that good lenses can be used in a child-friendly, quick use VR viewer.

Final Verdict: I feel The Homido Grab has taken a lot of light away from this headset and shown a better way for kids to experience VR, but maybe I shouldn’t be looking at this headset in such a user-friendly way, maybe it is more a collectors item rather than a usable headset. I’m sure a lot of people will get it just to collect it, but more people are surely going to use it and they will sadly be disappointed. While the build quality of this headset is premium, the user experience is poor and that is a shame. Let’s hope the V2 of this headset does a better job.
