Overall Packaging Presentation: With a nice outer sleeve that resembles the Bobo Z4, it features a tiny girl making the headset look like the boss. Which by name it is! Inside the pure white box that the outer sleeve was surrounding, the headset and extras are safely padded inside a polystyrene case. This headset is not going to be damaged easily no matter where it is delivered to.

VR Boss

First Impressions: Picking it up for the first time I couldn’t help but notice that this looks almost identical to the Bobo Z4. But there are differences in the features it has which we will get to later. Once again it feels back heavy, but the main body and earphone sliders don’t feel as well made as the Bobo Z4. It just feels cheaper than the Bobo, but the again it does have more features so maybe it has been a sacrifice to keep the costs down low.

Features Review: It certainly ticks all the right boxes when it comes to features. Both pupil and focus adjustment, a screen touch button, see-through front panel for augmented reality apps, elasticated and adjustable 3 point head strap, top of head and back of head strap padding, air flow face padding, volume controls, built-in earphones and even a built-in mic and call answer button! What no, partridge in a pear tree?!

Final Verdict: It is much the same as the Bobo Z4 as you might think. It has some good adjustment features, a good FOV (better than the Bobo’s) and the built-in earphones are OK quality, but nothing spectacular. This headsets biggest claim to fame was its ability to answer calls while in VR. The problem is, once you get a call it shows up as a non-VR notification on screen and instantly breaks the immersion anyway! There is no point being able to answer calls in VR because call notifications and call app overrides go over the much needed dual displayed screen. Sure, it’s a good idea but it simply doesn’t work (not on the phones we tested anyway). To some people, this might well be the ultimate feature. To the rest of us, this headset is a cheap Bobo Z4 clone that might get the job done, but the Bobo Z4 can do it for cheaper and it feels better made. If this headset really was the boss of VR it would have been fired a long time ago.
