There’s not much to the Yay3D viewer but that is a perk of the design. It can be 3D printed and is designed to be used with a 2013 Nexus 7 tablet, but many others do work in it as well including the Hudl. It’s simply a matter of clipping in the headset and away you go! It’s lightweight, comfortable to hold to your face and completely hassle free.
With a wide and immersive field-of-view it’s a good headset that offers a lot more than you might think. While it doesn’t have any amazing features like a near field communication button it doesn’t need them. Because it does the job, does it well and is affordable to almost everyone. It’s just a shame that other headsets are not made to use the larger screen of tablets because there are a lot of people that own one and don’t have a compatible smartphone. Tablets these days are cheap and it could be a way for more people to experience VR.
