Samsung Galaxy A8+ (Gear VR Compatible Smartphone)

“…to be able to see the text and visuals clearer is what makes the Samsung Galaxy A8+ a worthy phone…”

Please note: Prices displayed in this post might not be what you pay for your smartphone because when newer versions/models of these phones get released the price of the old one is often lowered. But they are correct at time of press and all buying links lead to Amazon and are affiliate links.

Phone Weight: 191 g (6.73 oz)
Phone Height: 159 mm (6.29 Inches)
Phone Width: 75.7 mm (2.98 Inches)
Phone Thickness: 8.3 mm (0.3 Inches)

Info: The design sounds a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S8’s, with IP68 dust and water resistance, a metal frame and curved glass on the back, and there should be a decent amount of power, as the Galaxy A8 (2018) has an octa-core chipset with two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six running at 1.6GHz, plus 4GB of RAM. There’s a 3,000mAh battery packed in, with support for fast charging, plus 32GB of storage as well as a microSD card slot. Rounding out the specs there’s a fingerprint scanner, NFC, support for Samsung Pay and even support for Gear VR – so you can get your virtual reality fix without having to buy a Samsung flagship. Disappointingly though, rather than Android Oreo the A8 (2018) runs Android 7.1.1.

Final Verdict: While the Samsung Galaxy A8+ is little more than a slightly bigger Samsung Galaxy A8 it is still a worthy upgrade. With its larger screen it makes it much better for use in a normal VR headset, but when used in a Gear VR you really won’t notice the extra screen. Even the resolution is the same! But to have that extra size in your hand, to be able to see the text and visuals clearer is what makes the Samsung Galaxy A8+ a worthy phone about its slightly smaller brother.
