VR Baseball (Oculus Rift)
Intro: There is no feeling greater than stepping up to the plate, with the crowd cheering, and crushing the pitch deep into left field! Now you can live the experience with VR Baseball, the premier baseball game for Virtual Reality!
With over 40 bats to choose from, stepping up to the plate and hitting homerun after homerun has never been so much fun! Increase your skill to smash lights and blow off fireworks! Engage in challenges with friends and family. Hit homerun streaks to extend your time at bat, change the mode to goofy (or toddler), or kill the fans in the stands with devastating power shots!
Review: VR Baseball is just what it says it is. It’s virtual baseball and all you will be doing is practice shots. The good news is you get a choice of 40 bats to strike a homerun with (including a golf club) and a range of real and fantasy backgrounds to look at while you are playing. Graphically it is basic but doesn’t look too badly made.
As you might well expect the idea is to hit the ball! (easier said than done when it’s a golf ball with a golf club) To score you need to smash it out of the ballpark. Hit the invisible crowds or shoot it into space. The harder the hit, the better it will look. To celebrate, there are fireworks, cheers from the crowd and even a few other surprise things. Look, swing, smash! It couldn’t be easier.
Verdict: While there is not a lot of content to be had with this game (other than the possibility of doing score challenges with friends) it is still a lot of fun to play. It’s responsive enough and the range of balls from Beach Ball to expert level baseball and beyond will keep you more than amused for a short while. Just don’t expect MLB levels of excitement, but you might get Little League levels of laughter.
