VR Toolbox (Oculus Rift)
Intro: VR Toolbox brings desktop, Internet, gaming, social media, productivity, and video streaming screens in your own personalized environment.
Review: Every time we load up the Oculus store it seems there is a new virtual desktop app and the newest one of them all is called “VR Toolbox”. So what can you do with this app? You can create massive screens to play, entertain and operate your VR Desktop with native Twitch and 360 Youtube, create and personalise your own VR space with built-in props and rooms, drag-and-drop functionality, and personal images to easily decorate your environment, play local files or YouTube360 in 4K with one click to experience 360-degree video Engage Focus Mode to boost immersion and readability, easily switching between screens and you can also use VR Toolbox to play most of your legacy FPS! Phew, quite a lot then.
Verdict: While there is no denying it, this app does a lot and is very user-friendly. But it still only does the things that many of the others free virtual desktop apps do. Once again virtual desktops show that they are not much use at all yet until a virtual keyboard can be sorted out (unless you know your keyboard back to front). So is this app useful? Yes! Indeed it will be for the right person. But that person wasn’t me.
