Description: Experience virtual life at sea aboard your own pirate ship! Created for the Oculus Rift (and soon other VR HMDs) this is an entirely new interactive environment, unlike anything you’ve encountered before! Developed exclusively for virtual reality headsets, this is not a traditional PC game or sailing simulator. It is an immersive experience designed to delight your senses in life aboard an old sailing vessel, with several fun activities thrown in for good measure. Due to heavy VR performance constraints, the ship does not currently sail, but rather floats in place at two different locales.

Review: What I really love most about virtual reality is that some things don’t have to have a point, a goal, a mission to be fun! VROOM: Galleon is the perfect example of this. There is no goals or missions or any end. It is just made to look good and have fun with and that is exactly what it does. It’s a ship and island for you to wander around and explore. Everything looks amazing, sounds perfect and it is a treasure cove itself in all the things you can find and interact with (74 in all).

Some of the things you interact with are silly, and some of the effects don’t look up to scratch plus on top of all that there is no plan or mission to be found! But if you want to show someone how good virtual reality can be, show them this! It’s fun in every sense of the word and it was designed to be nothing more than that. And if you enjoyed this you can also experience VROOM: Aerie which is also worth a look.
