Wanderer2: The Rebirth (Oculus Rift)
Intro: Wanderer2: The Rebirth is a Virtual Reality hunting action game, whose intense and fast-paced combat will provide users with the ultimate VR gaming experience. Players must stay focused and react quickly if they’re going to survive the challenges in the arena. Plan your strategies carefully – there’s no telling what these powerful monsters are capable of!
Review: If there is one thing VR does well it is allowing you to be able to judge the size of things. People, buildings, objects things like that. So when I heard Wanderer2: The Rebirth was a giant monster fighting game I have to admit I was a little excited about playing it. Played in a third-person action style you play the role of the Wanderer you will be fighting 6 giant monsters over 3 difficulty levels Easy, Medium and Hard.
This is your classic magic and monsters style of game, you get all sorts of crazy spells and attack combos which you will need to use strategically in order to win. At least you do get a warning whenever they are about to use their “power” move so when that “warning” sign shows on the screen it is best to run as fast as possible away from the creature.
Verdict: Giant monster fighting in VR is something that should have worked well given the depth and judgment of size you get in VR. But sadly this is just one of those games that doesn’t benefit from being in VR and could just as easily be played on a screen. Sure, it looks amazing and the action is fast-paced. As a game its a blast, but as a VR game, it feels completely pointless.
