AchieVRfit (Gear VR)
Intro: AchieVRfit is a new way to exercise. Instead of spending time on a boring treadmill or elliptical machine watching paint dry, you can be traveling along a beautiful mountain trail. The skyline changes each time you upload the app so you never get bored.
Verdict: I have often wondered why there aren’t hundreds of fitness, dance and general exercise VR apps and games out there, but it seems AchieVRfit has come along to fill that said gap in the market. Basically is a running app with some side undertones of gameplay in the form of collecting bananas and step count. You can do it via 3 methods. You can run on the spot as I did, use a treadmill or use an elliptical machine, then pop the VR headset on and you can run along in VR with a mountainside scenery to look at while collecting bananas. While the scenery never changes the background skyline does which is nice, but this app would have been so much better with random or at least a choice of more running environments. Running on the spot it seemed to pick my running steps up and wasn’t too fooled by simply moving my head from side to side. When it comes to value for money you will only get out what you put into this app. Sure I wish there was more content, but it works well, will get you fit if you keep on using it and stick to a good diet and best of all its pretty cheap! If you like your VR games more energetic you will love giving this a go.
