AOC VR (2016)

Presentation: Apart from a few headsets sent out to developers the headset never had an official release, only some were sent out to the start-ups and business partners and they were always just the headset in a brown, unbranded box.

AOC VR (2016)

Description: For those who don’t know, AOC has been making high-end gaming monitors for years now and are considered to be one of the very best for games. Knowing that it does kind of make sense that they release a full VR headset. Stefan Sommer (The director of marketing @ AOC) said it was a natural step and we agree that it could be a good one for the company as well. Most of the stats are a secret at the moment, but it is said to be almost identical to the Oculus Rift CV1, only half the price! Sounds too good to be true, but we will keep an eye on it and bring you some more information when we hear it.

AOC VR (2016)

Review: While on paper it seemed as if the AOC VR was going to do well it seemed to vanish into the abyss of lost headsets soon after its launch date and I can only presume it was because those first reviews of it were not very good when compared to the Oculus Rift. Some also reported that the leaky visor was annoying and the resolution wasn’t close to that of the Oculus Rift DK2, Let alone the Oculus Rift it was trying to follow. It might become a collector’s item one day, but I certainly wouldn’t pay full price for one.
