Are There Any Real Benefits to Using a VR Casino

With so many ways to have a little gamble these days, it can be hard to know which one to go for. There are VR casinos that you play using a VR headset, online casinos that you access via an app or web browser and even live casinos that you watch in real-time. And let’s not forgot my personal favourite the real world, bricks and mortar casinos. So what are the benefits to each of them? Let’s take a look at a few pros and cons of each kind…

VR Casinos

With great apps like VR poker and PokerStars VR this area of gambling is growing all the time and I have to say playing poker in VR still feels pretty amazing. You can still be social, you can still pick up little tell-tale signs from the other players and you can even earn some serious money! But sadly the larger player base of online and real-world casinos simply isn’t there yet. With time I do hope that this situation will change, but not for a while at least. Although, it does have to be said at least the price of VR technology has come down significantly with all-in-one VR headsets like the Oculus Quest costing way less than its PC-VR counterparts.

Pros…

  • Fun
  • Socialable
  • A Growing Market

Cons…

  • Small Player Base
  • Inaccessible Technology for some

Online Casinos

Online Casinos

Back in the early 2000’s I remember talking to a croupier about online casino and do you know what he told me? His exact words are…”Nah, it’s a fad, it will die out in a few years, bricks and mortar will always be the real home of the gambler”. While he was obviously wrong as online gambling overtook real-world gambling back in 2015, I still think what he had to say is kind of true for many people including myself.

But like it or not online casinos are definitely here to stay with growth year on year. Its simple to use, there are some great online casinos like winkslots that offer amazing bonuses and there is so much competition out there that sites will often fight hand over fist to keep you with them which means even better deals for us players! It really is a good time to be an online gambler, but its not without its flaws…

Pros…

  • You Can Play Anywhere
  • Better Deals and Bonuses
  • Amazing List of Sites and Games
  • You Can Play Live on Some Sites

Cons…

  • Maybe Too Much Choice
  • Some Sites Are Not Safe
  • Can be a Minefield

Real World Casinos

Working on this VR review site I get to play with some great technology I really do, but I often find myself playing Roulette in real-world casinos rather than online or in VR. Maybe its the smells, the people, or just the general atmosphere. A real-world casino has it all and I personally treat it like a posh night out. I don’t have to get my food or drinks and I can meet other people in the flesh (or so to speak). I like an online casino site as much as the next gambler, but there is just something exclusive, something…luxury about a real-world one.

Pros…

  • You Get to Meet Real People
  • Maybe Have Food and Drink Services
  • It’s a Night Out
  • Feels Luxury

Cons…

  • Sadly Many of Them Are Closing
  • You Don’t Always Get the Best Deals
  • Not Everyone in a Real Casino is Friendly

I have to wonder what the future will hold for the casino industry as a whole. Will we one day see AR casino apps that turn everyday life into a gambling opportunity? Maybe we will. At the end of the day, it could be all down to where you are and what you have access to for a little flutter. While I will always be a fan of real-world casinos myself because of many of the pro points mentioned I still enjoy having a little gamble both on my phone and in VR. They say diversity is the spice of life, so why not try a little bit of all of them!
