Is the Future of Bingo Halls in Virtual Reality?

We have seen a large increase in the number of online poker games this year, but one thing I am yet to see is the same thing happening in the world of online bingo. With all the real-world bingo halls closing down I would have thought a bi online bingo site would pick up the pieces and make an online bingo hall, only in VR! Here is who I would like to see this sort of thing happening…

We have already seen a multi-seat setup where you can interact with other people thanks to the Oculus Events app, but what if the same thing was applied to bingo. You could each be holding a dabber pen and a bingo card and mark off the numbers being drawn in front of you, then shouting “HOUSE” if you think you have a winner. It sounds kind of crazy, but also pretty amazing as well.

It would also be good if you can sync up your online accounts so you could use it to access the cards and other chat features. The possibilities are endless I suppose, especially when it comes to big national and international games. I for one would love to see something like this happening, but it is something that will have to wait until the numbers of people using VR (especially the older audience) increase. But maybe one day this idea will become a reality.

For now, we will have to sit back and just play some online blackjack or poker in VR as that is all we have at the moment. But I do like the social idea of VR being useful in this idea. For people who don’t get out of the house much to see someone even in VR will help with some level of loneliness which is one of the biggest problems facing the ageing generation of today.

I’m not trying to say that VR will cure all peoples loneliness, but it might help someone who loves a bit of online bingo and a chat. Facebook is always trying to sell VR as a social thing, so this might well be the “thing” that they are waiting for.

As always, if you have any questions relating to VR or AR do let me know in the comments below.
