Hoop the Balloon (Google Daydream)
Intro: Your goal is to move the balloon through the hoops and gather points. You have two modes to choose from. In the Timer mode, you have 60 seconds to score as many points as you can. In the 3 Balloons mode, there is no time limit. But watch out, if the balloon touches the ground, it will burst. For more challenge, the game requires you to synchronize three different movements. To manoeuvre the balloons through the hoops you have to swipe your finger on the touchpad, move the controller and jog a few steps in place. Can you do that?
Verdict: Before we get into the grit of this “game” I do want to say congratulations to the developer on their graduation. This is a sort of balloon score game where the main idea is to get the balloon through various hoops of different sizes and sometimes moving as well. With some relaxing music playing in the background this could have been a strangely relaxing game but also a little bit of a challenge. Sadly it is the control style of the game that lets it down. While the backwards, forwards, in and out movement via the Daydream controller is tricky you do get used to it in the end. But it is the jogging on the spot to raise the balloon (stopping to let the balloon float down) that really kills any fun this game might have been. You could have done a score challenge with friends, it could have some good potential. But sadly its just not there and its only good feature is that its free so you don’t have to fiddle about getting a refund.
The chances are good that the developer was simply trying to showcase their skills in which its job done, but if you just so happen to stumble across it in the app store, I suggest you give it a miss.
