Description: IKAROS is a virtual reality adventure game developed from unity and works under HTC VIVE environment. In the game, the player will control a cyborg character who need to escape from a huge underground world that full of traps and killing machines, as well as discover the hidden conspiracy behind. This project wants to overcome the restriction of player physical movement and virtual reality sickness occurs in the real world, so as to increase immersive experience during gameplay. From this background, certain kind of redirected walking technology had been applied to allow players to explore unbounded virtual worlds while walking naturally through physically limited space.
Review: Let’s start off with playspace requirements because IKAROS needs at least 2.8m X 2.8m of it to play and if you don’t have that you simply can’t play this game. I’m not sure what new-fangled movement system the developer made for this game, but I certainly didn’t notice it. So that leaves a VERY basic escape room game for you to play and while it is free it is incredibly short and very basic graphically. But if you do fancy a look at least it is free, but there is nothing here apart from a puzzle room game requiring a large play space.
