Review: To be honest I am pretty sick and tired of wave shooters at the moment and ‘Monster Showdown: Prologue’ is just that. In short, you have to survive as long as you can inside each level. You can exit that said level after a certain point, but you mostly just keep going until you die. The good news is this is a pretty polished shooter and it looks fantastic even if the AI is a little lacklustre. You use doughnuts for energy and cash from each kill to buy things which is where this game steps things up a bit because it is the guns that are the stars of the show.

With over 60 guns and melee weapons you will be shooting a 6-shooter one minute and firing rockets the next and when the enemy count starts to rise this game does get action-packed and a real fight for survival. Each gun feels great and the “flick to reload” method feels great. To be honest there is plenty to see and do inside this Prologue and I will be looking forward to the main game. This gets an easy thumbs up from me and I just hope the full-game isn’t too overpriced given the wave-shooter saturated VR games market we are currently in.
