Pimax Vision 8K X (2020)

Pimax Vision 8K X (2020)

Presentation: As with all the other Pimax headsets launched so far the unboxing experience for the Pimax Vision 8K X leaves a lot to be desired. With a plastic tray for the headset to sit inside of and very little in the way of protective padding, it has a cheap and nasty feel about it despite the super-high premium price tag the headset demands. Pimax really doesn’t know how to package their products nicely at all and should take a leaf out of others books.

Pimax Vision 8K X (2020)

Description: The Pimax Vision 8K X is a variant of the Pimax 8K that solves the cable bandwidth limitation by using the highest data transmission mode with HBC with Displayport 1.4a, thus allowing native 4K resolution per eye, without the visual compromise from upscaling a 5K signal. The total native resolution of a Pimax Vision 8K X is 7680×2160, which should help reduce the screen door effect. VISION 8KX offers a Dual Engine Mode, which can lower the render resolution to 2,560 X 1,440 per display and then upscale that to 4K.

Pimax Vision 8K X (2020)

Review: OK, so it does have to be said that the Pimax Vision 8K X was the best VR headset Pimax had released to date. But sadly the setting up and user experience is still something your average VR user will not enjoy at all. This is still a headset for VR enthusiasts despite them working with many different people in the VR industry. The build quality still feels cheap, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired and you can’t pick this up out of the box and play with it. Without a full VR kit I can’t see anyone other than VR enthusiasts buying these headsets, but even in the year, this product was launched people were already sick of the Pimax brand, especially their poor customer service record.
