Poly Runner VR
Intro: PolyRunner VR is an addictive, high-quality experience that tests your skills against an other-worldly, ever-changing landscape rather than testing your ability to maintain control of your stomach. This engaging virtual world offers more interesting, challenging terrain the further you progress. All the while, you can collect bonus points for your precision by navigating through checkpoints and utilizing boosts to give you an extra edge. The intuitive controls make it easy for anyone to compete in this spaceship runner, but mastering flight skills is a feat that will earn you a place among the top guns and make you worthy of a personal theme song that would inspire jealousy in any maverick pilot. Will you accept the challenge?
Review: Poly Runner VR is a classic arcade style game where you pilot a futuristic looking plane through various moving valleys and structures. The idea is pretty simple, get as far as you can! There are boost rings and checkpoints to find (The blue rings give you extra points and the green ones a speed boost), but you will mostly be concentrating on trying to survive. It has to be said that despite having a ‘Moderate’ comfort rating in the Oculus store, I didn’t experience any VR sickness at all.
With ever changing terrain it really breaks up the game that is otherwise the same thing over and over again. If you like classic arcade games like Afterburner this might well bring a smile to your face. In our opinion the best way to play this game is with the Gamepad as controls, it feels much more exciting and you can use your view to locate the path ahead.
Verdict: This game is simple, quick and loads of fun. But sadly it is also basic and very repetitive. But fun is what you make it and doing a score passing challenge with friends will soon ramp up the fun this game can bring you. This is a great little buy and one that you won’t regret.
