Description: When the Esmeralda crashes on Tyson III, Robin is left stranded. He must rely on his wits – and HIGS, an AI unit from the ship – to survive. As he searches for the lost crew and comes face-to-face with dinosaurs, Robin discovers that Tyson III is not the paradise once promised.

Review: Robinson: The Journey is a VR adventure game in which you play the role of a boy called Robin. You need to rely on your own fast reflexes and the little bit of help that HIGS will give you (a sort of robot companion) to survive. Survive what you might ask? Well, there are plenty of encounters with dinosaurs and a few other things that I won’t spoil for you.

Controls are done using a basic controller and a few head movements thrown in as well. While the pace of the game is a little slow, with such gorgeous graphics and deep immersion, you will be grateful for the chance to soak it all in. The storyline is also quite good with a classic Jurassic / Sci-Fi nation to it. Most the time you will be dodging dinos and climbing things, but there are a few other puzzles and interactive elements thrown in that again I won’t spoil for you.

This game could easily have been rubbish, but with Crytek behind the wheel, you knew it was going to be something special (which it is). But it is definitely not full price special. It looks stunning, feels deeply immersive and as a VR experience, I couldn’t fault it. But it’s the length of gameplay could never justify the asking price. This is one of the very best VR adventure games you will ever play(so far anyway), but it is also one of the most overpriced. If you have the cash spare go for it, but for those of us looking for value for money, best we give this one a miss.
