The Chainsmokers Paris VR (PSVR)
Intro: Go on an epic journey with Grammy winning DJ Duo, The Chainsmokers as you travel through dreamlike environments. Influence new remixes of the hit song ‘Paris’ based on the choices you make throughout the experience. Structures and objects activate new audio elements simply by looking around. Choose a new path each time you enter the experience, and let the music engulf you as you lean into the experience, or simply lean back and enjoy the ‘Paris’ daydream.
Review: If you haven’t heard of “The Chainsmokers” before it doesn’t really matter. This is not something that will make you rush out and buy their albums, but it is something that might make you appreciate their style of music a little. They are basically EDM DJ’s (electronic dance music) who have quite a large following online thanks to their hard work playing at venues all over the world, not just in the USA. So now they are spreading their wings a little more and taking off in VR.
This short, but totally free musical experience showcases how strangely immersive VR music videos can be. Being about to not just hear every beat of the music, but also see it and feel it. At the end of the day, it really is free so there isn’t anything stopping you from at least trying it.
Verdict: Music and VR together is a powerful thing and this is one of the best examples of why that is. Even if electronic dance music isn’t your think, watching this in VR might well change your mind. While there isn’t a whole lot of interactivity in this experience it is still immersive and allows you to feel every beat of the music. I’m not sure it will do well on the PSVR, but it’s nice to have some free experiences like this to try anyway.
