Review: To be honest it feels like Vanguard V has been in development for what seems like forever! But this two level early access demo is a great taste of what is to come. Its a super fast-paced flight adventure game that has a classic retro game undertone, very much like Starfox 64 or maybe After Burner. It is clear that game is made by people who not only love their retro gaming but also totally understand what makes a good VR game.
The idea is you fly along a fairly linear path shooting anything that moves and dodging the stuff too big to shoot. That might sound straightforward but the speed of the game and the large scale of the things you need to avoid making it a very exciting game from the off and all taking place in some truly stunning levels that make great use of VR to really make you feel like you are in the middle of a war. Then on top of all that you have pounding music that makes you feel like you’re in an action manga film!
This game has sadly not had enough content added to it to be worth the full £10.99 asking price, but do pick it up in a sale as it is one of those VR games that is a pleasure to play. Its just way too short which is a crying shame as so much time and effort was put into the first parts of it.
