Description: Vermillion is a VR painting simulator, bringing the full analogue joy of oil painting into the digital world. Get the unrivalled sense of accomplishment from creating something beautiful on the canvas, without the messy living room. With the same ease of use as real life, it is accessible to both complete novices as well as seasoned (digital) artists. Mix up your desired colour on the palette, make your mark on the canvas with the wide range of unique brushes, and get going on your first (or next) masterpiece.

Review: While ‘Vermillion’ is little more than a virtual oil painting app, it does have some features that really make it stand out. For a start, we have to talk about the colour mixing. This dip and mix feature is far from flawless, but it is still pretty impressive with the ability to mix any colour you want just like you would when doing a real oil painting, only you don’t have to keep washing them off. Then there is the colour running while painting, so you can brush off or brush down if you want to create some rather amazing art peices. OK, so I couldn’t do that because I have no art skills, but I appreciated that you could do it. In the right hands this will be amazing, but I do feel the price is a little too high given how many other art programs there are out there with many of those being free. If you are into oil painting do give this a go, just don’t expect it to be perfect.
