Review: For those who don’t know Dunhuang is a city in China’s northwestern Gansu Province, on the edge of the Gobi Desert. This interactive experience is all about the Mogao Caves, a complex of 492 grottoes adorned with Buddhist statuary and frescoes. Carved into the cliffs above the Dachuan River, the caves were created between the 4th and the 14th centuries. There are apparently more than 700 caves, 2000 statues & 45,000 square meters murals, but this app only features a small section of them. It looks OK I suppose and it is interesting, but there is simply not enough educational content here to make with worth a download, nor is there enough content as a whole to justify the £7.19 asking price. It’s not the worse experience I have seen, but I wouldn’t pay much more than a quid or two given how much there is.
