The Royal Opera House Hosts a VR Powered Hyper-reality Opera

VR News: As fans of the opera eagerly await the reopening of London’s Covent Garden (I can’t see that happing any time soon) the ROH (Royal Opera House) plans to use VR technology to host a hyper-reality opera called Current, Rising. It is apparently a multi-sensory experience that will put people into the opera rather than just listening to it. My Thoughts: No matter how…”safe” the company try and make this now is not the time to be trying to introduce VR in this situation as it means multiple people wearing the same VR headset. I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer here, but it would have been better to have live hosted the normal opera for all of us to enjoy at home, maybe even for a small fee! Oculus Events makes anything possible and it would have been nice to see this. Would I like to see this for myself? Yes, of course, but given the current pandemic, I just can’t see this being popular at all.
