Overall Packaging Presentation: Presentation wise this is the best Shinecon headset by far! With an almost shop friendly sleeve surrounding the black box, it looks great and anyone unwrapping this at Christmas will be very excited to get into it to discover more. Opening the box the headset and all that comes with it are all placed fairly neatly away and each part in its own separate part of the box. While it would have been better being held in foam it is still nicely presented.

Whats in the box…

  • Headset
  • Twist Adjustable Headstrap
  • X2 Earphones

First Impressions: While everything is separate inside of the box, once assembled it looks pretty good and very well designed. Very much like a Bobo Z4 only…better! OK, so sadly it is also an awful lot heavier, this is not a headset for anyone with a weak neck, you will need some strength to keep this on your head. But overall, I was very happy with it and didn’t find anything that stood out as bad or poor quality.

Features Review: This area is where this headset really comes into its own. We have independently adjustable focus distance, adjustable pupil distance (not independently) screen touch button, volume and play controls, build in headphones, a weight distribution head strap and even some pretty nice lenses! And yes, it even has a removable front panel for AR apps. Pretty much everything you will ever need to get going!

Final Verdict: VR Shinecon V4 is a mammoth of a headset and sadly I am not talking about how fluffy it is. This thing weighs more than most all-in-one headsets and that is before you even add the phone into it! But putting weight aside, the headset is very well built and it puts the Bobo Z4 to shame when it comes to build quality. But when it comes to experience it lets itself down a little bit, with a small FOV and earphones that are no different quality to the Bobo Z4’s but it asks for almost twice as much. Yes, it is a really good headset, but it doesn’t offer anything extra that a Shinecon V2 and some nice headphones would. Shame, but if you got this as a gift and it was your first mobile VR headset, prepare to be very happy indeed.
