Wild Wings (Gear VR)
Intro: Wild Wings brings you action-packed arcade aerial combat. Conquer two unique battlefields, feel the G’s as you master three time trial courses, and become the ultimate flying ace! Take to the skies with ‘Hands Free’ flight mode or connect a gamepad for an intense, classic arcade experience. Inspired by Hank Caruso’s Aerocatures, Wild Wings breathes life into these incredible combat machines! Take the controls of 13 unique planes, each with unique weapons and skills, and take flight.
Verdict: If you enjoyed watching Pixar’s Planes (a spin-off of Pixar’s Cars franchise) then you will feel right at home with the characters here. To be fair to Wild Wings it looks so good you could believe Pixar themselves made it! Sadly once you start to get into the gameplay and action you will soon believe otherwise. It’s hard to nail exactly what is wrong with Wild Wings, but my best guess is that it’s just too complicated in graphical terms and too simplistic in gameplay terms which leads to a horrible mash-up making the game feel slow, sluggish and almost unplayable. With its £6 price tag there is simply no way it can justify its own price tag.
Having got all those flaws out the way I am happy to tell you that this game has a lot of potential. If they can just sort out the gameplay you could be in for a great looking dog-fighting sim because to be fair to it visually they have nailed it. Dare I say Wild Wings is just a little too…wild.
