Description: Ascension VR is the first deckbuilding Virtual Reality experience. Bringing the tabletop world into the digital sphere by connecting players from all over the world into one virtual space, Ascension VR uses 3D fully animated avatars and showcases social elements including spatialized voice chat, avatar lip sync and avatar animation triggered by real-time player movement. Players can battle for supremacy regardless of what platform they’re on, whether mobile or PC and from a variety of VR headsets, including Vive, and Rift.

Review: To put the idea of this game in a nutshell you have to break through mortal limits and ascend to something far greater. How do you do that? Yes, you guessed it, by turning over cards and using the point systems to battle other players. With 52 cards to choose from including heroes, constructs & monsters, it also has chat animation sync which is really creepy at first, but you soon get used to it.

This is a game that takes a long time to learn and even longer to master, but once you get into it, you will be hooked. Getting some friends to battle in VR each with his or her VR headset on is a great experience and perfect for a group of friends who can’t always find the time to meet up in the real world. But of course in the real world, the monster cards don’t literary fight each other and each card won’t change the environment you are seeing.

Ascension has been a favourite card game for years and already has loads of fans, so this VR version is sure to be right up their street. Sadly, for now, there is a lack of other people playing it online and this does dip into the replay value for it. But once more people own VR headset and I would imagine some card expansion packs get released it will be a great game. Is it worth downloading now? For non-fans of the game, I would say no, but if you already love the Ascension universe you will find loads to love about it already.
