Description: Darknet is a strategy/puzzle game in which you play as an elite hacker in the Net. Plug into cyberspace, using viruses, worms, and exploits to steal the data before your signal gets traced. Includes both VR and non-VR versions.

Review: While I won’t try and pretend I know exactly what is going on in this game I guess that you are some sort of hacker (maybe inside virtual reality) trying to access some valuable data (probably what the new iPhone 7 will look like). Bu hacking each “node” you have to plant viruses and capture the core. But if you touch and anti-virus software program it will hunt your own virus down and destroy it.

That might sound a little too specialised, but in reality, it is a turn-based strategy game where you have to think 3 moves ahead to get to the goal. Some nodes need to be taken out before you can start working on the others and so forth.

Don’t be put off by the basic visuals in this game, in reality, it looks pretty good and you do get an odd sense of immersion from it. But it is the gameplay that will keep you inside the VR headset for longer. It can be so addictive! Trying to get the bigger and more valuable nodes requires some serious strategic thinking which in turn is only more satisfying when you capture them. It’s not the easiest of games to understand, but trying (and succeeding) and capture a few nodes will soon get you into the right mindset. If you enjoy a game of chess of checkers now and again, this will be right up your street.
