Review: While it might seem like a dark and scary game at first, ‘n Verlore Verstand does open up into something quite wonderful. Each level has it’s own style and each one looks better and better. From the darkness of the scary rooms to the openness of the floating rocks. While this is a puzzle game at heart it is also quite an adventure where you are never really sure what will be around every corner.

Within each level, the idea is to get to certain places. So turn the lights off in the scary rooms or put out the fires in the ice level, there is nothing too taxing here. But getting to those places will often need some jumping skills and memorising the layout of the map. I think a Steam members comment perfectly sums this game up “My interpretation is this game is that it’s about a person who is trapped in a coma and these are the dreams that he/she is witnessing, trapped in a loop which is why some themes seem to repeat in different ways. I think each environment type represents a different stage in his/her life and how it progressed before the coma. I think the tree represents the person’s consciousness and how the person wants to escape this loop and get back to reality.” I couldn’t have put it better myself, so I didn’t.

The game is really easy to pick up and play, it looks amazing in a strange abstract kind of way and even the sounds and music fit perfectly to make the game even more immersive. But sadly the VR integration is not good at all and you will need a strong VR stomach to play this. But even if you can stand that, just play it normally without the headset on just to enjoy it!
