Description: In May 1943, the RAF’s Bomber Command began the formation of a new squadron, codenamed Squadron ‘X’. A team of bomber and nightfighter veterans was assembled from every part of the Commonwealth to deliver a very special payload – the brainchild of inventor Barnes Wallis. These airmen have trained in secret for months in low-altitude flying and bombing without knowing their final purpose.

The Target: Three hydroelectric dams deep within the heartland of industrial Germany. The Delivery Method: 19 Lancaster Bombers, flying below the radar. The Payload: ‘Upkeep’, a four-ton bomb designed to skim over the water like a skipping stone. Fly and shoot your way through the rivers of the Ruhr Valley while reliving this incredible feat of daring, brilliance and skill.

Review: Raid on the Ruhr is a historical interactive experience that sees you going through some bombing missions during WW2. But these were no ordinary missions, they were to secret dam-busting style missions where stealthy dark flights and low flighting at the order of the day. You can watch this as a non-interactive experience or you can get down and dirty yourself and fly the plane, but to be honest, the gameplay here is not great, but it is welcomed nevertheless. You should see all this experience has to offer in 30 mins which might make the £4.79 asking price seem a little high, but I think with the quality of the graphics and the multiple ways to can replay this experience you should still get your money’s worth here.
