Description: Enter a futuristic gladiatorial arena packed with rabid fans as you face off against networked opponents in a disc throwing duel. A wholly unique navigation system will allow you to deftly position your hoverboard as you reach out with your Touch controllers to launch, catch and punch the speeding, spinning Ripcoil disc.

Review: While I am probably as sick and tired as you all are of the VR Vs Tron comparisons, with Ripcoil I can’t help but compare it to the Disc Battle from the Tron movie (and the countless games that featured it) put sort, this is just like Pong from Atari, only it is in VR, 3D and it looks incredible with well-animated crowds and amazing arena locations . You throw the hoop to the sides or in front of you, then if you are feeling adventurous you can also hit it back with a single punch (but you need to power it up to do this). Then the first one to ten points is the winner.

Standing feet apart like a goalkeeper is the best way to play this game, but boy does it need quick reactions. You can sometimes blink and miss the disc rush past you after being punched by the opponent, but this also means it is a fast game, that doesn’t last long for each round, I wish it has been slightly slower paced to make the matches last long. But then again, I am probably just saying that because I am rubbish at the game.

If this game had been £20+ it would still be worth every penny, but this game was free (With any purchase on the Oculus store) and that makes it one of the best downloads you will make with your new Oculus Touch controllers. While it will take a long, long time to be good at it, the fun really starts the moment you first win an online match. Only then will you start to understand why people play this game for hours at a time. There isn’t many of them at the moment, but this is one game that could sell VR systems, just play it a few times at a demo station or at a friends house and you will understand why.
